Maybe I spoke too soon. The Con-Fluence from Free Comic Book Day is finally catching up. Scratchy throat. Swollen eyes. Stuffy nose. And at the same time I take a bit of pride knowing that we brought enough people together that a tangible epidemic was able to spreading with the gathering as ground zero.
Stephen's So-Called Emo Life!
- Batman Arkham City - finally getting around to it this week with Free Comic Book Day behind me. Hoping that the Batman the Animated Series skin doesn't look too out of place with the grittiness of the world. Also gonna get caught up on the Arkham City hardcover and the first two issues of Unhinged before the weekend is through.
- Friday Night Lights - another post FCBD treat. Gonna get started tomorrow night after work and see how far we get.
- Eureka - recently added to Netflix instant streaming! Watched the two hour pilot and really enjoyed what I saw, great mix of drama and humor that I think I can definitely dig for two seasons.
- Teen Titans Go! - issues #1-24 now available on the DC Comixology app! Reading through the first few yesterday, I realized that the Teen Titans cartoon and it's contemporaries like Super Pets and Batman Beyond had the same effect on a younger generation of kids that Batman the Animated Series had on me. Those kids are just in middle school right now, but as movie reboots and part-time jobs come along for them in the next 3-5 years, I think we'll see more of that in the comic marketplace.
- Gary MacDonald - heard it mentioned on the David Koechner episode of You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes last week and Gregg brought it to my attention this past weekend that all of the sketches are on Hulu now! Watch the above clip and tell it doesn't change the way you speak for the next 2-5 hours.
- This American Life LIVE - taking Carly to see it tonight for her birthday. It's playing at the Brassfield Cinema 10 at 8 PM if anyone else is as big of a public radio nerd as we are to spend $17 each on the tickets.
