Tuesday morning I was feeling pretty daunted. Like the Free Comic Book Day pressure was going to crush me. But you guys pulled me right up. Your enthusiasm for the day and for lending a hand has inspired me to the point where I feel like we can get anything done! Not even the clouds rolling in can dampen my spirits.
Ready to stay excited about DC? Good! Then pay special attention to Dial H, Earth 2, G.I. Combat and World's Finest, the first shot of the New 52's Second Wave, as well as Detective Comics and Batwing, continuing the blockbuster Night of Owl's crossover!
Stephen's So-Called Emo Life!
- Old Town Drafthouse - in all my years at UNCG and all my visits to Yum Yum's, I'd never bothered to walk next door and try out Old Town. I blame the theater kids. But we stopped by on Saturday after the signing at the Weatherspoon. Great lighting, good food and great service! I definitely won't make it another forever before I return.
- Friday Night Lights - after the huge recommendation from Chris Schweizer, along with Arkham City, I'm adding it to my pile of things that I'm allowed to enjoy after Free Comic Book Day is in the rearview mirror.
- Stay Cool - my indie Netflix surprise of the week. I found it after finding the first 30 seconds of New Low unwatchable. Seems like it should be cliche and the cast would be a deterrent (Hilary Duff and Winona Ryder), but I actually dug it.
- Comic-Con Episode IV A Fan's Hope - rented it on iTunes after hearing just way too many good reviews. Worth the $6.99. I felt like it painted all of the "characters" in the right light, and it was so cool seeing friends like Ed (Captain America, Deadpool, Black Panther at our events) and Chris Giarrusso in a feature film! If it missed anything, it's the scope of the show, how large it is and how it affects the city of San Diego.
- NOT Outcasts - the BBC sci-fi series available for free on Netflix. Boring.
