It's the event that will be making the headlines and setting new precedents for Free Comic Book Day across the world! Have you ever heard of a comic shop with a pair of tigers!?
Your guesses have been correct, and this May we’ll be expanding the scope of our Free Comic Book Day Con fesitivities to include one of the most beloved educational facilities in Greensboro, just a short trip down our very own Lawndale Drive, at the Greensboro Natural Science Center!
Our goal here is to reach brand new families who have no idea what Free Comic Book Day is or how it works, or have been intimidated by the sheer volume of fans at the shop over the years!
It’s our hope that this new initiative will spread the gospel of comics to residents of the Triad area who might not otherwise be able to particpate, especially with the crowds, as well as providing another opportunity to make FCBD an all day event full of mind-enriching experiences and non-stop fun!
- Pick up a bag of primo books, including a couple of titles not available at the shop, for FREE!
- Meet some Free Comic Book Day favorites and brand new talent and head home with signed books and a personalized drawing from one of your favorite artists, for FREE!
- Costumed heroes, including one of the best Batman's you've ever seen!
- Animania Pet adoption - maybe you'll bring home your next best friend, a super pet!
- Acme Comics has also welcomed Nurse Jolene Cannady's Team Lemon (a local branch of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation) to host a lemonade stand at this location. No donation is too small and all funds to this stand will benefit pediatric cancer research.
The creators at the Natural Science Center will be:
We'll be set up in the courtyard of the zoo, weather permitting!
We're very happy to have Chris back for Free Comic Book Day after a year off! He's the artist and co-creator of Hero Happy Hour from IDW and we always like to give him credit when it comes to Acme's FCBD explosion. Back in 2008, Chris was the first artist that really took a chance on us, hopped in his car, and made the looong trip from Alabama to hang out and meet the crowd! It was his confidence in us that gave us to guts to keep going bigger and we thank him for it all the time!
