Acme First Look #230 for 4.4.12

Still dwelling on my burnt finger from last night. We were at Pablano's on North Battleground. They were running a $7.75 fajita special, so most of us partook. When our sizzling pans came out, Adam, who did not get a fajita platter, wondered aloud if the plates were hot. Frank feigned touching his. I did touch mine. They were indeed hot.

In my defense, I was expecting the pan to be a more tempered temperature, like what you get in the hot stone bowls at the Don. But, nope, piping hot.

At least it doesn't hurt too badly when I type.

Make sure to read down past the new comics list since there are a ton of reprints coming out for series that you might have missed on the first go-round!

Acme E-Mail Update #229 for 3.28.12

Changing it up a bit and repping Phil Noto's Joan and Roger from Mad Men.

I've got a ton to cut together for this week's Acmecast, including two interviews with three creators (one of which hasn't even been recorded yet!), great reviews of DC books, an advance review of Avengers vs. X-Men #1, and the biggest Acme news of the year!

Acme First Look #228 for 3.21.12

I'm full throttle getting ready for FCBD. Flights are being booked. Hotels are being reserved. Flyers are being put together.

The best part of all of it is getting to know our guests that much better!

Acme First Look #227 for 3.14.12

Big business this morning. That's me and Jermaine with Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins this morning. Can't say much just yet. Suffice to say, big things are in the works!

Acme First Look #226 for 3.7.12

The above cover was put together by our pals Brandon Clarke and Derek Dow! It's was one of the best surprised I've ever gotten in my inbox!

Don't know if you caught it at the top of the e-mail this week, but Conner Kent was tossing a baseball! The Spring Training schedule starts on Saturday! Expect a much sunnier disposition from me from then through October, as the Winter blues are over!

Acme First Look #225 for 2.29.12

More Dan Hipp awesomeness!

Still riding the high from this weekend! Robot 6 at Comic Book Resources was talking about the event in this morning's edition of Comics in the A.M. and Yes Weekly's feature article made the front page of their site when the new issue hit stands yesterday!

I'm also very happy to announce that perennial Free Comic Book Day favorite Mike Watkins will be joining the team at Free Comic Book Day 2! Stop by the site this weekend to see that initiative's own event page! We fully believe that our partnership with the Natural Science Center is the next step for FCBD by Acme and comics in Greensboro!

Acme First Look #224 for 2.22.12

So much to do to get ready for this weekend's Heroic: Womanthology signing! One of the secrets to putting these events together once our guests arrive, in this case Ming Doyle, Janet Lee, and Chrissie Zullo, it's all wining and dining. That means all the scrubbing of toilets and vacuuming of floors must be done ahead of time. Good thing we've got Scott and Cody!

Acme First Look #223 for 2.15.12

Nothing like some Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to start the day! And we have a bit of a stretch left before us this morning, as we stopped in Memphis last night rather than the planned Little Rock. However many hours on the road it will be, it'll be worth it for the knowledge and enthusiasm we'll be able to bring back to you guys next week!

Acme First Look #222 for 2.8.12

Had a rough night. Shouldn't have eaten that whole pizza just to prove to Frank that I could. Spent three hours dreaming that I was editing a podcast. Not the one that we recorded last night, but a completely imaginary show that is now lost to the ether. My throat was really dry and I had already drained the bottle of water on the end table.

But, man, when I woke up and saw the sun shining and felt that spring-like air on my face, it turned everything around!

Acme First Look #221 for 2.1.12

Above is Carly's contribution to the silent auction before tonight's Star Wars Uncut Charity Fundraiser! It's about 4x6", ink and watercolor with a gold leaf background. Bid on that and other works by Kelly Yates, Ben Towle, Chris Giarrusso, Gregg Schigiel and MORE! Then watch the movie! And all the while you'll be supporting the Masonic Children's Home in Oxford, NC!
