Acme First Look #263 for 11.21.12

Happy Thursday, everyone! I've already taken care of some very important Chrissie Zullo(!), and there's plenty more business of comics to attend to before I sleep!

Speaking of sleep and rest, we're gonna be taking a break next Thursday, November 22nd for Thanksgiving (duh!) so we'll be closed. To make up for it, we'll be working ourselves an extra hour on Wednesday so you can get all your new release, the perfect distraction from family business!

Finally, Jeff Lemire has been preparing for the final issue of Sweet Tooth next month by posting pin-ups of Gus by some of comics' best and brightest! Above are the offerings of Saga's Fiona Staples, Wizard of Oz's Skottie Young and American Vampire's Rafael Albuquerque!

Acme First Look #262 for 11.14.12

Check out the look of Comic Book City Con 2013!

I take great pride in the flyers and logos that I've put together for the store, and while I don't consider myself a great designer or artist, I think I'm a pretty good editor, and my ability to tell myself "that looks good" or "That doesn't look right" over and over again is the only way I accomplish anything.

Acme First Look #261 FOR 11.7.12

As no one should be surprised about with the events of this week in the northeast, sometimes the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray. That's what happened with our big announcement this week. Everything isn't ruined, we just have to revisit some things and push things back a few weeks. Rest assured that when it does come back together, you guys will be the first to know!

Acme First Look #260 for 10.31.12

Me & Jermaine, circa 5 year ago.

Congratulations to you and me on the fifth anniversary of the Acme First Look! We've come a long way from the now-defunct store MySpace page, but I still love doing it because you guys let me know you still enjoy reading it!

Acme First Look #259 for 10.24.12

Last night's live recording of Acmecast #100 was amazing! We packed out the fledging Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema, ate some pizza and cookies, drank some sodas, partied hard and gave out some wicked prizes! Listen along tomorrow morning for all the action!

Acme First Look #258 for 10.17.12

I still haven't forgotten! This blog has always been on the back of my mind, on the train, on the bus, throughout the NYCC experience. But today I slept until almost 4 PM. I'm ready to decide that New York is even more exhausting than San Diego! I even went to my first major media panel at any show, and Venture Bros. co-creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer were just as awesome as you'd imagine!

Acme First Look #257 for 10.10.12

I had to miss last night's show because the Yankees/ Red Sox game was pretty much life or death, but now that they've clinched the best record in the AL, I'll be able to sleep easier and make even more exciting plans for next week in New York!

That said, I'll be coming to you from the road next week with one of the Acme Wave Projector's infamous "live on tape" con reports with the help of Adam, Carly, Cody and any number of special guests!

Lately I've been wondering if online partial previews of a book convince people to buy a title they wouldn't normally pick up. I know that years ago when the companies would send print preview copies of the next week's titles along with the regular week's shipment, someone would read the entire advance issue and decide it was something they wanted to get, but does four pages on your computer screen make a difference? I'm honestly interested so let me know on Twitter or Facebook!

I'm also psyched to announce that our Comixology Digital Store has already sold 30 times more books in less than a week than our Diamond Digital Store has in over a month! We're glad that you guys are enjoying the experience and selection and we appreciate you continuing to support us analog boys in this digital world!

Acme First Look #256 for 10.3.12

I really stepped in it this morning. Literally. But aside from that, it hasn't been one of those days and I hope to keep it that way!

Acme First Look #255 for 9.26.12

These were some photos that my sister's-in-law Kari and Claire took at Target this weekend. When I checked them out on Facebook, they just read like a comic strip to me. What do you think?

Also, with as many adults as put on those masks and take pictures and immediately put the masks back on the rack, I sure hope the parents that buy them for their kids sanitize them before handing them off to their children.

Acme First Look #254 for 9.19.12

Frank Quitely is a cool dude.

Change of plans today since I forgot all my eBay swag at home, but there's still business to be done and it's the business of making sure there are comics at every table in November, a podcast in every ear tomorrow morning and a chicken in every pot!
